Have no fear - Hanny Pants Detective Extraordinaire is on the Case!

     So if you don't already know this I am mother to a very brilliant and very dramatic 6 year old little girl.  When she likes something she throws herself into it whole-heartedly.  Well right now she is REALLY into the Nancy Clancy series by Jane O'Connor.  For those of you not in the know, this is a slightly more grown-up version of Fancy Nancy, by the same author, who goes around solving cases with her best friend Bree. She read both of the chapter books in about a week and a half, and has since been obsessed with being a detective.  We bought her a new jacket that looks kind of like a trench coat (pics to come) and now it is her detective jacket.  I know it is a little cooler where we live, but come on it is not quite cool enough for a jacket.  That doesn't matter to Hanny though, if she is on a case, she is wearing her crime solving jacket.  
     To keep with her current detective theme, she informed us that she needed to start buying detective gear and taking it everywhere she goes, because we never know when there might me a case to solve.  So what does her detective kit consist of you ask?  Currently it is a Monsters Inc. drawstring Subway backpack that holds a magnifying glass (from Target), a small writing pad, a pencil, scissors, and scotch tape.  She will not leave the house without it.
     Since my husband and I try to be good parents who encourage here creativity, my husband came up with her first case.  We will call it the Case of the Missing Pink Monkey.  He worked long and hard to come up with a set of coded clues for her to decipher that would ultimately lead her to her Monkey.  She had a blast!

     The next daddy project it the creation of a proper detective briefcase made from cardboard.  Thank goodness for You Tube tutorials and a wonderfully willing husband.  Until next time, keep your head up and eyes peeled for Hanny Pants Detective Extraordinaire!
